How to Build a Horse StallIf you already have a barn and want to learn how to build a horse stall, first you will need to decide which type of stall you want to build. There are portable horse stalls, welded horse stalls, race track horse stalls, and even designer horse stalls. Welded horse stalls are of course the strongest and most durable type of stall. Many companies offer pre-fabricated horse stalls. You can purchase these completed, ready to put together yourself, or hire someone to come to your property and build it for you.

When selecting your horse stall plan, be sure it is the correct size, material and has the correct amount of stalls. Be sure that it contains easy to read directions and has a list of all supplies needed. Many plans will not include household tools, assuming that you already have these tools available. Most horse stalls should be 12 feet by 12 feet in size. Larger horses will need a bigger stall. Your horse stall should provide a manger which will keep the horses feed off the floor and free from disease. Allow your horse at least 20 minutes a day to leave his horse stall. These doors will provide a way to open the top half of the door for the horse to receive sunlight and fresh air.
